Hi, I just got DSL a couple days ago and I was on google searching for something. I clicked on a link (now I can't remember which one) and about 15 popups came up at once. I could not close any of them-they just kept popping up one after the next. The mouse froze so I just turned off the power. Now when I start the computer, it says NTLDR IS MISSING - PRESS CTRL ALT DEL TO REBOOT. I did and I get the same message. The computer had WIN 2000 on it.
Thanks!

Try and run the repair install procedure as follows:

Boot from the Windows 2000 CD and press the "R" key during the setup and then the "K" key in the following menu in order to start the Recovery Console.

Select your Windows 2000 installation from the list and enter the administrator password.

To replace the boot sector, at the Recovery Console command prompt, type: fixboot [drive:]

If you do not specify a drive letter, the Recovery Console replaces the boot sector of the system volume. If you need to replace the boot sector of a volume that is not the system volume, then you must specify the appropriate drive letter.

If that does not work try a few other suggestions from here and here.

Instead of going through the above why not just copy ntldr from the install disk to the c: root directory?

Because the problem may stem from a damaged boot sector rather than the file not being there.

You may be right but how long does it take to replace the file? seconds....and then you know.
