What is this and can someone help me. I have no OS installed on my HD and I am trying to use a Win2000 install cd to boot up and install Win2000. Unfortunately, it hangs during boot and I don't know what else to try.
I have already switched all IDE ribbons, reset the bios and all other things I can think of.

Formatting is not nessesery if you have a ERD (Emergency Repair Disk) and a w2k instalation CD.
step 1: put the cd in your cd drive and restart your computer
step 2: if the installation cd is started chose option " To repair a windows 2000 installation, press R"
step 3: if you have a ERD press R do you not have one you can try to press C for recovery console (but I don't know if this works I only have my PC working again by ERD).
put the disk in your drive.step 4: follow the screens and do what is ask
I hope it works.
ps. excuse me for my bad english I'm Dutch
male, age 18, country Netherlands

i think format is the best thing to do at this moment, cause there are no OS to repair so why to boot with ERD? please format the disk with fdisk and install win 2000.

K, it worked. I didn't even think it got to the point of actually reading the disk due to no hd led but it worked.
