Please help if you can. I ran scandisk on all three drives, 2 said it would scan on next boot up. When I closed and rebooted I got the error message CD Rom failure, and Missing NTDL (I believe thats what it was) anyhow I think this is part of the boot program for W2k.
It said to press any key but still missing.
I changed bios setting to not boot from CD Rom. Rebooted and Scandisk is checking the drives it was supposed to.

What caused the error to begin with and what should I do at this point? Thanks guys for your help and advise. LS Sr

Well,i guess u are using win2000,and therefor insert win cd and choose REPAIR win 2000. It will take about 1 min to fix the problem. I think u have done something before u entered bios. Like installing a program for instance, some programs MAY overwhrite a file/files that windows needs due to stability. I got that once, took me 1 min 2 fix the prob. I hope this will help ya.

You just had a general CD or a data floppy slotted when the thing booted and it was trying to boot from one of those. And of course the disk didn't have the NTLDR on it to boot from. NTLDR is a file accessed each time the machine starts up (it's a hidden file on your C drive)....

Usually when you see that msg on bootup it means a floppy was left in the drive.
