Hi
I've finally managed to get ntbackup running using a batchfile and the scheduler (update yourselves to SP2 and read "How to Schedule Unattended Backups Using a Stand-Alone Tape Library (Q239892)" to get that going btw).
But how that heck do I specify where ntbackup should put the logfile?!
The commandline i'm using today:
C:\WINNT\system32\NTBACKUP.exe backup "D:" /n "TapeName" /d "BackupLabel" /v:yes /r:no /rs:no /hc:on /m normal /j "jobname" /l:f /p "Travan" /UM(not posting the rsm refresh and the rsm eject afterwards).
Anyone who can help me here?
If I specify a complete path with the /j switch (for example: /j "D:\Logs\Backup\jobname.log") it doesn't work...

Per Microsoft Article #Q241162:
Windows 2000 Backup (Ntbackup.exe) does not have a command-line parameter to specify the location to which reports are saved after a backup operation is finished.
The backup report is saved in the profiles folder of the user who performed the backup operation. You can view the reports by clicking "Report" on the Tools menu in Backup.Only the last 10 backup reports are logged- The corresponding files are located in the "Documents and Settings\User_Name\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows NT\NTbackup\Data" folder.
Copy and paste the log files to an alternate location where you can rename them using a Date-time convention while still allowing Windows 2000 to maintain its own reports in the normal fashionI do find it very hard to believe that there is no way to specify a log file location, you can't be the ONLY person who wants to do this!
Anyway, Hope this helps.Cleo

Ah!
I searched the darned KB, but didn't find this Q :)
Thanks Cleo!
NT4 was much simpler, no buggy RSM, and you could specify where the logfile should be kept...
