Does it do this for all profiles?

Only 1 profile on the machine.

It does this for only one profile, or you have only one profile (default Admin) on the machine? Not a good practice to use the default Admin account for normal computing...

What's the exact error message? Does it show a filename or Service in conjunction with the error number?

The system is shutting down. Please save all work in progress and log off. Any unsaved changes will be lost. This shutdown was initiated by NT authority/system.

C:\winnt\sys32\services.exe terminated unexpectedly with system code 128, The system will now shutdown and restart

I had found that during my search, but it didn't pan out either. Anytime I have seen this error before, it was cause by a worm such as sasser or blaster, but this system is clean. Perhaps Win2000 is just corrupt...
