Heres the problem: My uncle worked for a local savings bank and when they changed ownership, the new bank that took over gave away all the old Dell computers that were stored in the basement to the employees. It is windows 2000, but when I turn the computer on, this Novell window pops up asking me for a password. It gives the old employees username, but nobody knows where the old employee is to ask her what her password was to log in. Is there a way of bypassing the Novell password? I don’t even know what Novell is, and as soon as I can get into the computer I want to remove this program as it is some network thing they had within the bank and something I would not need to have for personal use, but I just don’t know how to get past this screen? I am thinking I will have to format the hard drive, which will then remove all the goodies like MS Office and I don’t want to do that. I don’t even know how to do it. Any ideas on what to do? Thanks! There was a big story about banks (or was it big corps?) donating old machines without wiping out hard drives that contained private, sensitive information a while back. The drive should really be zeroed out. The OS and all the "goodies" on it is the banks property. My suggestion for you is to wipe your hard drive and reformat. If that was my bank I would go ballistic.
