Hi!
This really isn't a problem of grave importance, but I thought I'd try to find the answer to my problem here. And here it is:
Why does my Windows Explorer always start browsing in My Documents when I open it? Why couldn't it start in, say, C:?

It depends on where you enter it from.
If you right click My Computer and choose Explore you start at the Desktop.
If you right click Start and choose explore you get the start menu. If you just run explorer from the run line, you'll start in My Documents.

Do you want to change the default of when you just run it?

A pet peeve of mine.......basically, it depends on how you open it. If you want to avoid that and have it open at C:\ here's what you can do. Open windows explorer and drill down to the \winnt folder. In there you'll find two explorer.exe files. One has an icon that looks like a computer, the other has an icon that looks like a folder. Right click and hold the one that looks like a folder and drag and drop it on your desktop. Click on "create shortcut" when prompted. VOILA, when you click on the shortcut you just made, it will open to the root of the drive your OS is installed on.

There is another way to do this that allows you to set the path yourself, but if you just want it to open to C:\, then use this method. If you want more in depth detail on how to edit the opening target of explorer, email me, I'll send you the info.

Or you can simply change the settings of the windows explorer link so that the target is:

%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e,D:\

wher D:/ is the default location you want shown
