i dont know why, but i have 2 sticks of what i believe is 256 pc100 sdram in my optiplex gx110, and i dont know why, but it says that i only have 63,724k of ram installed. they are both seated correctly, and on the back of the cards, it says PC100 SDRAM and it also says 4x64. i dont know what to do and i need to have 64mb of ram to install this new printer that i bought.

Not sure why you shouldn't post this post?
I believe your ram chips are not 256 or 64meg chips but 32meg chips. Bios registers 64meg with two chips.
I am looking at a 16x64 pc100 chip and it is 128meg. Divide 128x4 and you come up with 32 meg. So if this chip was 4x64 it would be 32meg. If 256 then it would be 32x64.
Easy test: pull one out, if your mainboard supports just one dimm, and see if the bios registers 32meg.
Was this a recent purchase? What does your invoice say concerning installed memory?
BUT THIS IS NOT YOUR PRINTER ISSUE!
I have NEVER seen or heard of a printer install that required 64megs of memory. I have seen installs that equired DISK SPACE. I hope you are not confusing physical memory [ram] with hard drive space. How much disk space is free on your primary drive? Do a right mouse click in My Computer on the c: drive and look at properties for this information. You may need to defrag your hard drive and/or do some serious disk cleanup.

i know that this isnt a printer problem
I AM NOT A MORON,
when i go to install the software for my new HP deskjet 5150, it runs a diagnostics test. it then says that i have insufficent RAM, and shows a picture of a RAM chip, i am A+ certified, i am no fool.

hi,
I had this prob once with ram, it turned out that i had to flash the bios because the bios version i had only supported a certain amount of ram ie:32MB, 64MB, maybe check your motherboard specs to see how much ram it does support.
hopes this helps
