All the sudden, no sound. The only thing I've done is windows updates. (no drivers redently) I've checked
everything I know how (cables/plug) and all places I've looked says functioning properly.
Device manager for one. Also, mute is not on.I have onboard legacy sound. I couldn't find any update driver for it. Anything else I can try? Thanks ahead.........

reinstall sound drivers? As long as you have the sound drivers available or know where to get them. Uninstall your sound card and reboot

Here's what I did. Found a disk that said. Spacewalker mainboard. It had install audio.
so I did. I have sound now. But I didn't uninstall anything. And I had sound before I rebooted. I assume this is the motherboard I have. (A friend built this) But don't know why it says (still says) Legacy in Device manager. Hope I didn't do anything to screw something up...........THANKS!!
