I have just upgraded from 98SE to W2K, and now cannot get any sound. Using an Aopen Mk33 M/B and AMD 700 cpu I have downloaded the latest W2K driver for the Via 3D chip set and every thing shows as being correctly configured, I can assign sounds to events and record wav files no problems. I have tested the speakers on another system ok, I can adjust the volume and have double checked the mute box, but no sound.

Jim, I have experienced similar problems under Win2000 also on an AMD 700 processor. My soundcard was a SoundMax and when holding the speakers against my ears, I heard a very faint sound. I dug up some old speakers with built-in amplifiers and now I can hear sound o.k. Perhaps this helps?
