Hi, my uncle installed Windows 2000 onto our computer, changing it from 98. But the problem is now there is no sound at all. I guess I would need drivers or something, can somebody please tell me what I need to do? I can write back and give information if needed. PLease, I really don't know what to do. Thank you in advance!!

You are correct about needing drivers. Do you know if the motherboard has built in sound or is there a soundcard?. You will need to know exacty who manufactured to sound device, and then go to the appropriate website and download and install them. Does your uncle still have the HP CD that has the drivers on it? If you do not who made the sound device, get either AIDA32 or BELARC ADVISOR to see all the hardware his system has. Then you can search for the drivers on the internet.

There is another approach which is sometimes easier.
You can usually download the correct drivers from the manufacturer's web site if you have a known brand such as HP. Look on the case to find the exact name and model number for your system and then go to the "support and drivers" section of the HP website (www.hp.com) and enter the details. Download the correct driver for Win2k and read any instructions as to how to install it.
