I have a wierd problem, i use to have the mouse working on 1 of our 2k pc but now it has stopped working after a technician from another company (that came to check the barcode reader) checked the device. He never caused the problem but i think it may be caused from a power setting in the motherboard, I have changed the power setting back on the bios but it never helped.
I can't get either a serial or P/S2 mouse to work. Windows will not display any information relating to a mouse in the Device Manager and there is no tab for Pointing devices in the Add/Remove Hardware so i cant even add it Manually.
I have tried to update the Bios too, still nothing.
MoBo is Intel D845GRG.
Any Ideas?
Thanks
Tom

I faced the same problem on sunday (due to a weird accident which I will not describe).
I was almost crazy then I went out so:1- disconnect tne mouse phisically, unplug it from the port.
2- using keyboard activate install/remove hardware.
3- power down the PC and then plug in again your mouse.
4- power on and Windows should plug and play the mouse again. That worked for me. Good Luck.

Thanks but i tried that, windows was been funny but i have now solved it. I changed the MoBo with 1 exactly the same which has now solved the problem.
Hence the problem being the P/S2 Port on the motherboard. Weird cos the Keyboard is fine.
I shall send the MoBo back.
Cheers

You said:
"I can't get either a serial or P/S2 mouse to work."Then you said:
"Hence the problem being the P/S2 Port on the motherboard."What does the p/s2 port have with the serial port? Two different things. If the p\s2 port was bad that doesn't mean the serial port is bad.
I think you had other problems.
