I am totally stumped by this one..
I have a linksys new WRT54G router connected to my dsl which works perfectly on all my computers except for one. I have it setup DHCP. The strange problem is the 2kpro cannot access the internet through IE or Firefox. It used to work fine with the old d-link router. I reconfigured the new linksys so all my computers would work with old settings the d-link had. Same router IP, same subnet, same ftp settings etc.
However I have a FTP server setup on this computer and it works fine anyone outside my lan can access it via the internet.I have tried the following.
Go to control panel and run internet setup wizzard, connect to LAN, automatically detect settings.
I have done this in firefox too.
I tried assigning a fixed IP on 2k pro. Nada.
Tried restarting the computer, still the same. Tried reinstalling firefox. nope.
It used to work fine but I have no idea what it's deal is.
Why would I be able to run my ftp and have outside computers connect to it but I cannot connect to the internet.
I've looked everywhere in the router and I don't see anywhere that I blocked any internet to the 2k pro computer.
Am i missing something in 2kpro?
Every computer I connect to my LAN with either fixed IP or find's its own via DHCP works flawlessly. This is including my Linux distro's, live cd's etc.
Thanks for any input

do you get an error when trying to access a site? is the IP information that the pc gets accurate and is the gateway the same as the others? If so, in IE open internet options and on the general tab and under temp internet, click the settings button and put a check by every visit to the page. Apply this and exit out. Reclear your cache/coockies/hx/etc and try it again. This may not be the issue but, just in case it is that simple I went ahead and did it before hearing the answers to the above questions. either way, post back the answers and results

Try ipconfig on the problem child and one other box.
and
ping cnn.com
If at first you don't succeed, you're about average.M2

Dirty, I get error when trying to access any site. Tried you suggestion and cleared all temp files still the same.
Mechanix tried yours too ran IP config on two computers both get same results except for the last number in the IP config, one is .100 other is .101 so it's configured right on that part. I can access shared files ect just fine so I know the network is working. I can also send out my ftp address and people outside web can download or upload so I know it can get outside to the internet.
As for Ping cnn.com it doesn't work on either but ping yahoo.com works on one but not the 2kpro box.
It seems to have trouble accessing any type of web page.
For other info purposes i tried changing the IP of the 2k pro which didn't seem to help. I can still access files across network but can't seem to get out onto web pages.
I'm not sure if it's a router blocking the internet to just this one computer or internet browsers both goofed up and not going out.
I don't have any mac filters or IP blocks setup that I know of by checking router.
My setup is/was the following
DSL modem connected to router, connected to 16 port hub, each computer connected to hub.
Only thing I did was remove old router, connect back original computer to DSL modem, setup new router, and replace new router in old routers place. I then configured router's gateway and subnet to match old router. After that I rebooted all machines and every one of them worked except for the 2k pro. I don't normally use the 2kpro for internet so I didn't relize this for a couple days I just figured it was fine cause my ftp was working fine and outside users can access it fine.
Thanks for your suggestions tho i'm still stuck lol

Sure, but what does it *DO* ?

ping cnn.com just times out on both tho on the xp box I can go to cnn.com and webpage works fine.
as for ping yahoo.com 2k box times out while xp box goes through the usual routine
Pinging www.yahoo.com.akadns.net [216.109.118.71] with 32 bytes of data etc
0% loss average 97ms etc.

Never mind I guess with a linksys router you have to enter DNS address. So I entered the address of the router.
Funny I never had to do this before? Oh well it's working now.
