Hi, I'm trying to install windows 2000 but I don't have F8 key on my keyboard. The install program need it to accept de license. Anyone know some tip???

You have no F8 key? How? You don't need F8 to accept the license, just your mouse or maybe tab key and then enter. You only need F8 if at startup you want to go into Win 2k options menu before OS starts up.

You do need the F8 key during Win2k setup as there is no mouse, or buttons, when you accept the license.
If the key itself is missing from your keyboard and there is a hole in its place than just use a paperclip or something to push on the button within the hole.
If the key doesn't work than get another keyboard for the setup process as there is no other way to accept the license, at least I don't think there is.

I just re-installed my Win 2k today and did not use the F8 key for anything...but I also didn't start from a formatted drive...I clean installed over the existing version. So in that case it may be different. I agree, buy a new keyboard.

hahahahaha no F8 key lol and you do have F1 to F7???? keyboards allways have function keys....maybe it's in your trashcan ;-)

I have run across some really anoying keyboards with an fkey lock on them and you need to hit this button before the function keys work, i think this might be your problem.
as a side note you definately need to hit f8 to accept the licence agreement at the begining of the text based portion of setup so TeresaBoo is wrong and is an idiot for saying otherwise and pretending to be all knowledgable when she was called out. if you don't believe it teresa actualy install a copy of win2k pro instead of pretending like you do it every day and then get back to me.

dell4242 is right, the F8 key is required to accept the license when installing Windows 2000 since the initial setup screen is in a DOS-based view, therefore no cursor is displayed. You have no use of a mouse since you can't use one in any DOS O/S or program and any other keys except for the one that is displayed on screen. Even though the F8 button isn't there that is only the cover for the actual button. Just press the same spot where the F8 is supposed to be.

Actually, dell4242 is misinformed. Teresaboo is not an idiot, as he claims.
It is easy to customize any Windows 2000 installation using an unattend.txt file to move the DOS version of the license acceptance screen (thus removing the need to press F8) to the GUI mode after the installation is completed. This is regularly done on OEM and system recovery CD's from such system builders as Dell, Gateway, HP, etc. Whether or not you get a DOS version of the license acceptance screen would be dependant on your installation media. A plain vanilla Microsoft version of Windows 2000 would prompt you for the F8, while other copies may not.

Um...I was under the impression that this site was for help and advice, not to bash the people giving it, and for your information...I've installed Win2k Pro many times and have NEVER once had to use F8 for anything..and, my knowledge is none of your business...so your apologies would be greatly appreciated.
