Last week, I picked up something that made explorer.exe fail to run - that is, no desktop, nothing but a blue screen. C-A-D got me to Taskmaster, so I can Run from there. I need Control Panel, as I have XP now, and I have to disconnect some NT services. I know "control appwiz.cpl" will start Remove Programs. What will start Control Panel? Thanks for any help.

Explorer.exe will run control panel. It's basically just a folder.
Ctrl-Shift-Esc brings up Task Manager. From there you can Run explorer.exe or CMD and do a dir in c:\winnt\system32 for *.cpl items. You can run what you need.
