My computer wont boot up to the desktop, it does a normal boot up to the point where I hear the introductory music of the Windows boot-up, but the desktop never appears, just an all blue screen/maybe the background of the desktop, even get the screen saver, but know desktop.
When I do a Control-Alt-Delete
The button “LOCK Computer” is selected; I tried to click that button and entered my user name and passwd but still does not bring up the desktop, admin log in does not work too. Have no way to get into the computer by any other means

Laptop sony PCG-FX150k
256 ram
OS Windows 2000 pro

Thanks!

Hi,

I just fixed 2 PC's with the same problem.
It is a combination of a few viruses, but one trojan for sure: hide_desktop...
I did this:
When booted, cnrl-alt-del to get to Windows Security window. There click on Task manager and go to File - Open and then choose Desktop. There find an Internet Explorer Icon, double click and go to:
www.hbedv.com and download their free virus software. Download it to the Desktop so that you can go there and install it or just open it from their site so you can autoamticaly install it. Go through the scan and follow the instructions to clean the virus(es)...

Regards,
Neb
