no D drive and installation problem

CPU/Ram: Intell

when i try to run software, i get error messages:

(there is no "d" drive in "My Cmputer"..just Flopp "A"..and Local Disk "C"

when i try to run software through "run" on "start menu" i get this error message:

"d:\ is not accessible"

when i try to run software through "Add/remove programs/ Add new programs" , i get this error message:

"windows was unable to find the installation program"

what can i do to correct this? How can i run my software (disks)?

Did you look at the device manager to see if the CDROM is listed? If it isn't open the box and see if the wires are connected.

Do you indeed have a D drive? If so, what is it supposed to be? A second partition? CD drive? Did this start all of a sudden? A little more detail would be great..
