I'm desperate;-( I just bought a crossovercable and wanted to connect my WorkPC with my HomePC to transfer all the data of my workPC to my HomePC. I learned that to achieve this the 2 PCs had to be part of the same workgroup. I changed my workPC settings such that : System properties > NetworkIdentification > properties > Workgroup (changed into HOME) Note that my WorkPC was not part of a Workgoup but I think it was of a "networkdomain". I planned to reset these setting when going to work again. In fact I followed the guidelines of http://www.makeitsimple.com/sections.php?artid=7 When I restarted my PC it requested me to given in a PW ? If I give in my password using at work it rejects it? How can I get into my PC software again so I can reset my networksettings?? Thanks in advance....;-(

you need take your work pc off the domain BEFORE you take it home. the work pc is looking for the domain at your house, and must authenticate w/ the domian controller and it can not. soooo.... hook up the work pc at work, remove it from the domain by doing what you did before: System properties > NetworkIdentification > properties > Workgroup (change to HOME)then apply settings, and reboot. BOOM, your on the HOME workgroup at work. take the pc home and you should have no problems! good luck!
