Every time, i log onto win2K, a new profile is created (though the login id is same), all the previous settings, desktop are lost, and some programs fail to start (i have applied sp2)

Try setting the login option to - all user use the same profile.

Go to the Control Panel and click on "Users and Passwords"

Uncheck the box next to "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer".

Then click on the Advanced tab and uncheck the box at the bottom of that window. "Require users to press Ctrl+Alt+Delete before logging on".

I have no idea if this will work so post the results please.
