I just got a new MB and proc. WHen I swapped out my old drives to the new computer, the MB didn't see the old HDD. Because it won't boot past the windows screen, I have to try and fix it in DOS mode, thereofre the drivers for the HDD won't execute. They say that they cannot execute in DOS mode. I am stuck..... Any help would be appreciated.

P.S. I think it might have something to do with the chipset form the old MB, but "I don't know or I wouldn't be asking for help"

so which is it? Bios doesn't see the hd or that you can't boot windows?

You can't just move W2K to new hardware by putting the drive in a new system. Plan on a reinstall from scratch or use sysprep first then put in the system.

Should be using the same atapi.sys file for ide driver but everything else like video, sound, chipset drivers... this is why you can't move a OS from system to system.

I am not really sure. It will start to boot, when it gets to the Win2000 (white screen) and the blue bar at the bottom starts to load, it gives me a Inaccessible_boot_device along with the blue screen of death. I have XP ready to go on the drive, but becuase it isn't recognized I can install it and/or format the drive and starat from scratch.

I meant can't...... I can't install XP or format the drive. WHen I type format c:/ it tells me that the drive specification is invalid

Have you checked out the BIOS to ensure that it recognizes the HD? If not, you need to start here. While you are there, under "Bios Features Setup", make the first Boot Device your CD Drive. That will allow you to boot to your XP Disk.
