Windows 2000 Pro , on a domain.
Each time the machine is used -Any user logs in ( even admin ), Windows finds the same device ( HP deskjet 970 Cxi printer )and says it is installing it. The printer works , and is already installed, I have done a complete clean un-install ( reg clean ) and re install of the printer driver ( newest version avail ). Windows 2k still finds the "new device" each time a user logs in. Any ideas?

Is the printer local or networked? If it's local, what kind of connector does it have? USB?Parallel?

Ok, so lets get this straight-
what you're saying is that on your domain you have a W2K Pro workstation with an HP deskjet 970 Cxi connected to a local parallel port. Does the install wizard come up when a user LOGS ON or when the PC is RESTARTED?

On a domain
W2k Pro WS Service Pack 3
HP Deskjet 970 Cxi ( with most current driver )
New Device found , Windows is installing the software ... when machine is restarted , not during each log-on session, on the initial one.

Thanks =)

How exactly have you re-instslled the printer? Do you go thru the startup wizard & point it to the HP driver, or do you go into Device Mgr and start there? (step-by-step EXACTLY, please)
