Can I hook up my computer running Windows 98 to a four hub client/server network running Windows 2000? All computers are new Dells with Pentium III (500MHz) processors.

Yes, but if you want to access the windows 2000 machines you must create an account on the domain server (if available) or on each machines seperatly. You could also enable the guest account. :-)

Please note that staring with Win2K, there are no such things as "domains" anymore.

You're now looking at using Active Directory structure similar to Novell's

You only really use Active Directory when in Native Mode, meaning all servers are Win 2k.

Ex. Win 2k Server installs in Mixed Mode, which allows for Win NT 4 (or less) servers. When I logon to Win 2k Pro, I logon to my domain, managed by an NT 4 server.

...
Sure, you can hook both up.

i dont think anyone has focused on the problem at hand, rather it has gone in a domain/features debate?
make sure you have all your protocals installed per a basic windows network.
file and printer sharing for microsoft networks, netBEUI, TCP/IP (configured for you lan DHCP etc) and Client for Microsoft networks. right now can you even ping your network? \
mai lif you have anything else!

Yes you can, but when that 98 machine plays up, all the Win 2000 machines need to be reset.
