I have my machine hooked up to another win2k machine. 2nd machine has shared folder on it and shared C:, 1st computer has same. 1st machine is an upgrade from win98 to win2k, while 2nd machine is clean install after format. 2nd machine can log onto my machine anytime and access share folder without login, and works great. My machine cannot connect to 2nd machine, i need to log on, and when i try administrator i get a "\\compname is not accesible. Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer." I used to get a logon screen where i could enter different users such as guest, but now i get none, i jsut get this message. I went to 2nd machine and made new user gave him admin, and allowed the share folder access to everyone, guests, and my new user. Still nothing. Anyone have any ideas?

Are the 2 computers on the same domain? How are you hooked up to the other computer, netubui, lan, remotely? Do the 2 computers belong to the same workgroup? Do they have the same name? Or are you just linking to another computer at your home.

I have them both on the @HOME workgrp, no domain. Using netbui, simple network from downstairs to upstairs computer to computer.
They do not have the same name either.

Have you created a user account on the machine denying you access and did you give yourself Full Control?

Yes i gave my user, "mike" a new account and everything, full rights. i then enabled the guest account and gave full rights as well, made a whole host of new users on each machine and tried lots of combinations.

Check your "Local Security Settings"
(Administrative Tools ->
Local Security Policy ->
Local Policies ->
User Right Assignment ->
Deny access to this computer from the network)
There should not be "Guest" in parameters of last item.
Probably it will help you. At least so was in my case.
