both will take you through it all - basics upwards.
You will need hub and standard cables to connect each PC to the hub; you will also need a NIC (Network Interface Card) in each PC. Software you already have within W2K.
Also suggest you read Helmig's problem section - covers a few issues that it's useful to be aware of - especially where not intall the NIC when using a AGP card.

It's very easy in win 2k - i have 5pcs networked in my house. step 1. put the nic in and install it. step 2. connect all the pcs to the hub with the cables (very cheap at tmc.co.uk!!!) step 3. go into the network id tab in the "system" information window (in the control panel) and click on properties. give each pc a differnt name eg. bedroom/kitchen/garden shed/bathroom and put a workgroup name in. eg "my network". this has to be the same in all the pcs. then reboot. win 2k should configure it's self, and your network should work. if it doesn't, you will need to fiddle about with lan properties in network places to make sure they are all using the same protacols.
