I am trying to setup a client server network with win2000. I have 10 PCs and they all run win 2000. The Server runs win 2000 server version. right now all computers can see themselves but its more like a peer-peer network, other pcs communicate even when server is of, sharing is ok. But since I want to install the internet, I want to be able to control the login to internet and printer from the server.

Personally I thinks its better to control internet via a router not a server.
To do as you desire you will need a domain. Your server will require two nics. Once nic goes to the intranet. The other goes to the internet. You would have to configure dns and run dcpromo to create the AD domain. Next you join the wksts to the domain. You load RRAS to configure routing between the two nics. You load proxy server to control access.
Have fun.
