We have Win2k net work here in my workplace. It har worked ok for about 3 years, but now we have had some problem: Quite often occurs situation that under "my network places -> domain" of workstations cannot be seen any computers. By seach, however certain computers can be found. Some times restarting of workstation helps. DHCP is off and workstations have fixed IPs. Net work is connected via HP Procurve switch 4000.

hi there, the microsoft networking browser is renown for not showing all computers, can you ping one of the computers thats not in the list?

e.g. you see pc 1 and 3 not 2, ping pc 2 in command and see if your server sees it, if so odnt worry, its just pot luck that its not showing up.

hope this helps, it nothing to do with your router or set-up dont worry. :)

Yes, I can ping thenm and they can be searched. But when this problem occurs none of computers can be seen on browsing window. That is most annoying when you need to save file from application to somewhere to network, -or get file from network to application. I have got to used to situation that some computers cannot be seen, but all of them vanish...
Can anybody help me?

Do you have users calling in to RRAS? If so, that'll wreak havoc with computer browsing service. I've been fighting it for a long time and don't have a solution yet.

Some days ago I finally got enough of strange behavior of network. There was some other problems also. So I rebooted whole network and it has been working OK now. Some solution, real problem was not solved, but erased anyway.
