I have Win2k Pro and I am getting the following message when I try to log on to my domain "unable to log you on because the netlogon service is not running on this machine." I am able to logon locally, and I checked the netlogon service and it is started and set for 'automatic". I stopped and started the service and rebooted an this didn't work. Any Ideas?

Try uninstalling and reinstalling TCP/IP, don't ask me why but I have had to do it on several occassions on more then one 2000 Pro computer.

I get the following message when trying to log in locally on a Windows NT4 Workstation machine "unable to log you on because the netlogon service is not running on this machine". The machine is just a in a workgroup and not part of a Domain. Have you any ideas or solutions on how to resolve this issue?

This happens to me when the 2kPro can't find the domain controller. AFAIK the netlogon service will not start if it cannot properly communicate with the domain controller. If you have a domain security policy that specifies no local logons, this may have also overwritten your local policy, which then prevents you from logging on locally as well. As this is a result of not being properly connected to the network, it is possible that it is the result of a bad tcp/ip stack.
