Subject: net share logon problem
OS: win 2k sp 4
CPU/Ram: Intel P4 540 meg
Manufacturer/Model: HP
Comment:

I have a number of workstation (win2k) on a network and on all but one I can see the shared folders. On one when i try to connect to the share I receive a logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer. I am the net admin and also the admin on the computer. In addition these are in active directory and I can browse the network and see the workstation. I just can not get a connection. The share is set on the workstation. Any Ideas??

Are the share and file permissions both set properly? Perhaps someone changed them, denying access to Admin.

Jennifer,
Yes, the file permissions and share are correct. You can not set permissions for the admin$ directory but an admin has network connection priviledge which is set in local security settings. I can do this on any other workstation just not this one. Same with c$

This computer is probably no longer part of the domain. If you remove it from the domain then add it back to the domain you should be able to connect to the shares. If you can't connect the admin$ shares then it is a logon account problem. Assuming you are domain admin, you should be able to connecto any machine. If it is still correctly configured in the domain, check the local administrators group to be sure domain admins group is still in there.
