Dear All,
I want to block net send command from all WinXP/2000 PCs with messenger service running so that users can not send messages to each other. Please let me know what steps to take to prevent net send messaging without stoping messenger service.
Thanks
A Learner

Can't be done as far as I know. Net Send uses the same stuff the messenger service does.
If you have a software firewall on each machine you might be able to set that up to block messages coming from specific IPs or machine names...

Found an article at MS. Not sure what your setup for ie. Domain or standalone windows 2000s. If you on a Windows 2000 Domain, You may be able to make changes in the computer Domain Security Policy for changes to take effect on all W2K clients. If not you can manually turn messenger off at each workstation, If your lazy like me just load MMC and add computer management for each computer in question. Go to services tab and find messenger their and turn off and disable so it will not restart after reboots. If your an admin person with "rights" you can do this. If you using this to send out Admin alerts to all users you may not want to diable it. I tried it here at home and it works as described. Link below describes manipulation at the clients.
