First and foremost, a huge "thank you" to all of you out there who provide free help on this website. Without you, some of us would be lost. Now my problem. I installed WIN2000 on a PC with WIN98 already in it. I'm convinced now I don't need nor want it, but don't know how to get rid of WIN2000 w/o harming WIN98. Is there a way to loose WIN2000 and have the PC go back to the way it was before I installed WIN2000? Thank you in advance for everything.

Without a bit more info about the file system it makes it a bit tough but the basic procedure is the following. Remove the boot files from the root partition. The boot files are ntldr, ntdetect.com, boot.ini, bootsec.dos. Thats most of them. Then remove the Winnt folder. The problem you run into is that if you have NTFS, you won't be able to access the files from 98. In this case you may need to create an 2000 boot disk or use in Recovery Console or third party drives to read the NTFS partition. Once the files are removed you need to rewrite the boot sector by running the sys command from the win98 boot disk. Boot with the 98 disk and at the A: prompt type sys a: c: . This will make it a 98 machine again.
