I ran NAV on my computer today for each are: files, drives, etc. I am getting a message after each scan that says"
Program Control- Low Risk-
"navw32.exe is attempting to access the Internet."
What do you want to do?
The a pop up button allows me to Permit, Block or Manually Configure Internet Acsess.
What is this all about and should I permit it or block it?

Your firewall is just reporting activity.
Do you trust your antivirus software? I would hope so. Let it access the internet for updates and patches. Configure your firewall to allow it and not ask you each time.

I am receiving similar messages. I trust both applications, but for some reason, this has only started generating messages after the most recent update to one or both applications. I'm not sure which because both have had updates I've installed in the past week. Have either NAV or ZAP modified something in the way they monitor system operation?

I've just had NAV load up a big update and my system has become very slow to open Office files and I get TCP/IP traffic while NAV says it's doing virus scans. Bytes sent seem to be about the size of the file to be opened, but, bytes received are about 25 times the size of the file. I've just spent a couple hours looking for spyware and gone through my processes line by line. Anybody know of a good Windows TCP/IP logger so I can confirm where this traffic is going / coming from?

The latest NAV update seems to have upset the VeriSign Certificates. Go to www.symantec.com and click on the "Symantec addresses Jan 7-8 Customer Slow running" text. When you have read it click on "an updated version of VeriSigns Root Certicate Authority" and download a new certificate and all should return to normal
Tony

I've been getting that warning every time I try to run MS Word or open any files in Word, or open any files in Excel.
I'm running Win2K with the latest version of IE and all up to date according to Windows Update.
I attempted to install the new Root Certificate from Verisign but my system says that it's not a valid certificate and the dialog closes! (It's about 23:00 MST, Jan 11 right now).
Interestingly, the Verisign site says that I should get a pop up window if my system needs to be updated and I do not get that pop up window (but then maybe Norton's Internet Security is blocking the pop-up).
So I can't be sure if I have the new certificate or not.
Very interesting indeed.

Like Sigmo, I've got a friend who has been getting the same warning everytime she opens Word and I'm not sure what to tell her. I installed BlackIce Firewall software last week which I thought would be easier for her to use than Symantec's and though I set it to allow Navw32.exe to run, this fix only worked for a time.
Any more ideas?
Thanks for any information you can provide.

To Whom This May Concern:
Found this interesting list of documents at Symantec while searching for Tony's suggestion in response number 4.
See - http://search.symantec.com/custom/us/techsupp/kb/query.html?csm=no&lk=1&rf=0&nh=7&la=en&tpre=us&tdir=&src=sg&qt=navw32.exe&col=kb&search.x=25&search.y=10
Cut and paste URL in browser for several Q & A's by Symantec.
BTW, this is a nice place...glad I found it.
