if i setup a PDC with W2K server, name it for example porkface.com domain, and have the server with rras/nat and dns, will the clients need to be logged into the domain in order to have internet access through the NAT/RRAS server? can the client computer also be logged in locally (not logged into the domain) and still get internet access?
does the client computer need to be configured for any reason after the rras/nat server has been setup? or just simply login to the domain and everything will be all set?

Correction on your first statement.. PDC with W2K Server. No such thing. Win 2K does not have PDCs and BDCs. It has only Domain Controllers.
Soylent Green is PEOPLE!!!

First of all. you would name it porkface.local since it's not a web server that will be available to outside connections over the net.
Clients could probably have internet access even if they were just logged into the local machine since as long as they had an IP address on the same subnet of the router but they couldn't view any files on the server. THe IP of the router is the defaiult gateway and the PDC will be running DNS.
RRAS is not needed for that.

if my setup is cable modem --> router --> W2K DC Server (dns, rras/nat), --> switch --> clients
NIC #1 to the public network (router) dynamic ip in the subnet of 192.168.1.xxx, NIC #2 to the private network (switch) ip address static.
NIC #2 i assigned it 192.168.2.xxx and 255.255.255.0, left default gateway blank (is this correct to leave it blank, if not what should it be?) DNS preferred 192.168.2.xxx which is the same as NIC #2's ip address.
are these settings correct?

As I said, I don't see any reason for the second NIC and the second subnet, especially with just a few machines. It can all be done w/ one. I'm still not clear on the where the uplink port of the switch is connected but it would seem to me that the router would still have to be the default gateway no matter what.
