Hi,
i've just upgraded my os from 98se to 2000 and i'm learning as i go along. Can anyone tell me how to remove the "My Network Places" icon from my desktop. Also can anyone recommend a good FAQ file or pogramme to help with general 2k stuff?
Follow install instruction on site listed above. After you complete install, goto Control Panel and open TweakUI. Click the Desktop tab. You will then find a list of items. Find My Network Places and un-check it. Click Apply and OK and it should be removed from your desktop.

START -> RUN -> gpedit.msc User Configuration > Administrative Templates -> Desktop -> Enable the "Hide My Network Places icon from the desktop." policy
Removes the My Network Places icon from the desktop.
This policy only affects the desktop icon. It does not prevent users from connecting to the network or browsing for shared computers on the network.
