I bought this scanner recently, and it worked fine under Win98SE. I just upped to Win 2k, and although I downloaded the drivers from the Mustek site and spoke with a representative, I am still having problems re-installing.
I follow the directions for installation, and when I restart, Win 2k recognizes the scanner, and I continue with installation. However, it keeps asking for the Mustek Installation CD that came with the product, and automatically pops up g:\Win98 (g--cd drive).
According to Mustek--it shouldn't do that. Anyone know what's going on?

Try continuing with the installation when it asks but browse to the location that you put the driver and re-install from there

I tried that--but it keeps looking for the Sbusd.dll file. and that can only be found on the installation disc.
Short of re-formating, I don't know what else to do.

I won't be much help as I haven't fixed mine yet.I have a 1200UB and it pops up wanting to use my yamaha sound card driver file to get the sbusd file, the file is actually in the win95 folder on the install cd.....but still won't work for me.I also have a lexmark printer I'm having trouble with too, though it does sort of work.Tried reformatting-didn't work either.Found out it was sharing irq 11 with modem and can't convince it to do otherwise(windows help suggested looking for sharing probs)Both scanner and printer worked great in winme. For me the scanner was decent and inexpensive and i hate to scrap it for this,so I'm not giving up.Sorry ,told ya I wouldn't be much help but at least you now know you're not alone.....good luck and if I fix it - I'll post it

if the scanner needs the Sbusd.dll driver to run and that file can only be found on the install disk but the installation is asking for it & you don't have it & you don't have the install disk, then you will have to find the file somewhere and copy it to a your hard drive.
then like nec said, when W2K pops up the window that's automatically pointing to the install cd, you should be able to either click "browse" and find the driver on your har drive or type the correct path over the one that's already there eg: replace g:\Win98 by typing in c:\folder\driver

The sbusd.dll shows up in the win95 bfolder on the install cd. In the win2000 folder on the cd is sbusb.dll,it keeps asking for sbusd but won't use it even if you point it to winnt/sys.32/drivers(which must be the win95 version that it doesn't like). It detects the scanner, goes through the complete install, but when you try to scan,it says it's not connected. So I started looking into usb probs.in win 2000 and found there's several and I personally wonder if there is something in the usb.But usb is either there or not....maybe?.I quit on this about a month ago and just thought I'd let Robin know she isn't alone, but now I'm interested again. This scanner isn't in windows compatibility list but ya gotta try-huh? It may simply be a bottom end scanner and won't work in w2k even though drivers are available.I downloaded 3 w2k drivers from different sites including Mustek and all get the same results........s'pose I could actually ......call them....hmmmmm.I've just never had to do that till maybe now.
Thanks for the advice though and If you have more thoughts on this I'm open to 'em
Tim

you may have to use the driver to install the USB port as well as the scanner. go to device mgr and re-install the driver for the usb port but point it to the install files you downloaded, then re-install the scanner using the same install files...
