I need to print to many different USB printers in different locations. The printers are all the same brand/model but Windows wants to load a driver for each one rather than using the same driver for all. Then I must choose from a list which printer to use when I connect. Is there any way to fool Windows into using one driver for all printers? I don't want to have to load a driver each time I connect to an identical printer.

The driver isn't for the printer, it's for the printer port. Each printer has its own port (in this case a USB port) into the operating system where it receives and ACKs jobss. The driver translates the print commands into the particular flavor of machine code that the printer will recognize and sends it out over that port. You don't actually need a print driver; from the command line you can send commands and print jobs directly to the printer. For us mere mortals who don't think in machine code (don't laugh: I've known a couple who DO) print drivers are the way to go.
You can set a default printer for all your jobs to go to (Start -> Settings -> Printers -> rightclick on the printer and select "Set Default"); that may solve your problem.

Hmmm, I have to disagree with Orion's post. If the printers are in different locations that means they are hooked up to computers in different locations. The local printer handles the USB port drivers, not the machine you are trying to print from.
Yes printers do need drivers. You would need to set up a print server and put the drivers on that. then Windows will automaticly pull the drivers from there.
