msn messenger not showing emotions

my msn messenger is not showing the emotions but the hot keys. would anyone know what is the problem? thank u

Nan,

Check the obvious first, start up messenger and goto tools options - messages. Is the option to show emoticons in instant messages ticked?

Hope it's just that.
