Does win2000 have Microsoft Hearts game??? Mine doesn't now, I swear it did before but I could be wrong. I dual-boot w/ 2000 and ME (separate partitions) and I'm in 2000 now and I do a search for mshearts and it shows up in the windows director for ME, if I try to run it it won't, it says "cannot find cards.dll hearts will end". I search for cards.dll and its on both ME and 2000. Does anyone know how to get Hearts to work in 2000????? I tried copying it over but don't know which directory to put it in (if it even matters).

Win98/95, ControlPanel-Add/Remove Programs-Windows Setup-Accessories-Games - put a check in the games box to add all the games - Not sure if this works for W2k, but it might. Scott

I couldn't find anything like that, I've looked for that but I can't find anything similar, its not in the add/remove programs at least.
Thanks though :)

Hey I just got it to work. You have to have the right version of cards.dll. Windows 2000 puts one in C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32 but it's not the one that works for the MSHEARTS.exe that comes with Windows 95. The one that comes with W2K is 150KB. Doing a search of the net I found two others. One was 155KB and one was 146KB. It is the 146KB that works and will work if you put it in the same directory as the .exe. So copy the MSHEARTS.exe from a Windows 95 machine and also it's cards.dll to a 2000 machine. If the exe still gives you this same message, e-mail me at bfdchief@aol.com and I will e-mail you the hearts.dll that is working for me. Thanks - Bill

Okay - I figured all that out and copied the cards.dll file over to the W2k machine. But I cannot 'connect' to a game or set up as dealer. Any clues as to how I get around this? I'm trying to connect a W98SE to a W2kPro.

Email me if possible - thanks!

Indeed use the Windows 3.10 version of MSHearts.
I have it in zip-form. I found it somewhere on the net. Van't emember where, but it still didn't work.

It worked running mshearts within
a CMD-prompt.

Like: mshearts netbios_computername

This is working.
But no dealer functionality.
May be there is another switch for that.

Windows 2000 keeps updating cards.dll automatically even after I delete/replace it with older version...? What associated file in winnt\system32 is doing this? I put the 10/31/1993 cards.dll on my system and within 5 seconds it automatically gets changed back to 12/7/1999 file.
