In order to reinstall the .net framework, microsoft reccommends disabling the antivirus and firewall using the msconfig command. Thats where the problem currently is. Start / Run msconfig produced error The program cannot be found. I did a search for the file and it could not be found. I then searched the add / remove components and it wasn't there. I then searched the cdrom and the closest match on the server and pro disk was msconf.dll and there wasn't anything else. I then searched msconfig on microsoft's website and i couldn't find anything for windows 2000. I found an update for xp, but that was all. I know that wouldn't work. Can anyone help

There is no msconfig under win2000. You could trick it though: just copy the msconfig.exe from WinXP maschine and it should work like a charm

A far better solution than microsoft's msconfig is Startup Control by Mike Lin. It's a freeware application (he accepts donations) that once installed creates an applet in Control Panel. It's simpler to use and doesn't complain at you like msconfig when it's used to control what starts and what doesn't.
A quick google search of Startup Control will take you right to it.

You don't need msconfig to disable your antivirus. Just stop the service.
