can't and paste or search for files and folders. svchost errors...anyone have these problems? downloaded the removal tool and installed the patch. still have problems.
help!!!

Yes Jake have exactly those symptoms. Also includes screwed up folders, especially with the image preview, loss of network on my computer, internet shortcuts + popups won't open, Java won't work, windows installer refuses to work, control pannel - add/remove programs AND dial up networks completly 'messed up'
Tried the service patches, all the cures I can find to no avail whatsoever. Taking computer in to technicines in the next few days to be sorted out at great £££.

Sounds like the damage was already done before you patched and removed the worm. You could do a repair/reinstall or re-install the last SP to see if it will correct the corupted sys files.

Help keep getting svchost.exe errors ..Internet connect won't shut down..
Cures, removal tools etc did not cure error problems. Hang the worm makker!!!!

Try these steps, seems to have worked for me
MANUAL REMOVAL INSTRUCTIONSTerminating the Malware Program
This procedure terminates the running malware process from memory.
Open Windows Task Manager, press
CTRL+SHIFT+ESC, and click the Processes tab.
In the list of running programs, locate the process:
MSBLAST.EXESelect the malware process, then press the End Process button.
To check if the malware process has been terminated, close Task Manager, and then open it again.
Close Task Manager.
Removing Autostart Entries from the RegistryRemoving autostart entries from the registry prevents the malware from executing during startup.
Open Registry Editor. To do this, click Start>Run, type Regedit, then press Enter.
In the left panel, double-click the following:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>Software>Microsoft>
Windows>CurrentVersion>Run
In the right panel, locate and delete the entry:
"windows auto update" = MSBLAST.exe
Close Registry Editor.
NOTE: If you were not able to terminate the malware process from memory as described in the previous procedure, restart your system.

hi all..i got the same damn problem of svchosr.exe but i am not sure that either its bcuz of msblast.exe or sumthing else cuz in my running processes i never saw any process running by name MSBLAST.exe...but any ways...on symantec site there is a tool named...fixblast.exe..i downloaded that and ran it..it scanned for msblast.exe and told me there was no msblast.exe found on my system but my system is still vulnerable and i should go to microsoft`s site and download patch..then i went to microsoft`s site and downloaded the suggested patch and installed it...after installing the patch i rebooted my system and now its been 15 mins since i am connected to internet and no svchost.exe error has appeared yet...i guess its all the problem gone now...try it with yourselves..may be it works out
