MS Word not displaying images

In Word2000 on a number of PC's, a copy and pasted image shows up just fine. Then if you scroll down and return to the area the image was in, it is gone.
If you place the cursor just under the image and hit <Enter>, the image sometimes reappears. But when it does disappear, it also can't be seen in Print Preview mode
