Comment:

not sure of cpu.

was given this laptop.
mouse had this problem since got it, but only on occasion. however, it makes it so can't even use the mouse at all, cuz moves so fast and won't stay where want it to go.
dosn't matter what mouse use, nor matter when install software/driver for logitech marble mouse. this mouse and other tried mouses work fine on other puters.

the problem: the mouse travels all by iteslf on the screen. sometimes starting out slow and then speeding up to run usually to the bottom left corner of screen, other times start fast. usually it stops by itelf after awhile (up to a few hours), but lately, for at least the past three days, almost non-stop. can't use mouse at all. dosn't stop no matter how long leave it alone, nor how many times reboot.

what's the problem? how fix, if at all?

thanks

Is this an optical mouse? Have you checked the pointer speed settings?

no, it isn't an optical mouse.

as i said in first post, it dosn't matter what mouse is used (even the keyboard mouse). it has had this problem ever since was given it, just not for as long in one go.

i could check pointer speed settings anyway.

cursor speed is about midway. acceleration is set at low. is that what you were after?

if so, still no idea why it's malfuctioning, nor how to fix it, if possible.

that *may* help...for a little while...or it may not.
however, the mouse problem always existed, just not to this extent.

any hope for this machine at all, say a new MB or other part on the MB to do with the mouse, or something else entirely...or is it time to chuck it?

Have you considered emailing the manufacturer. Most companies will eventually answer email tech issues even when out of warranty. There also may be a FAQ or a tech forum available. Leveno is now the company to contact.
