Comment:

My mouse cursor jumps about all over the screen. This appears to be caused by Zone Alarm anti-virus and firewall and possibly other software running in the background.

Without turning off Zone Alarm, which seems inadvisable while on line, is there any way of overcoming this? I cannot find anything in the Mouse section settings of Control Panel, at least, nothing obvious. Can anyone help please?

Thank you.

Are you sure it happens "only" when ZoneAlarm etc. is/are enabled?

Erratic rodent behaviour can frequently be (but not always) due to less than clean rodent privates, and internal rollers...

Conflicts with another device may also produce the problem.

To (safely) test the issue re' ZoneAlarm etc - just come of the www whilst you run/test/check if it the problems goes away with ZA etc. disabled?

Hello Trvlr,

Thanks for your reply.

No, it is not just Zone Alarm, it is anything running in the background. The mouse is an LED mouse with no ball or rollers.

Regards,

Rodent privates.. I like that. :)

J., are you using a shiny mousepad? If so, pitch it and use either a matte one or none at all.

Life's more painless for the brainless.

Hello Jennifer,

Thank you so much; that does seem to be the answer. Now why didn't I think of trying that?

Kind regards,
