I have an interesting problem. If I open any application where i can type in (including this one) after approx 30 seconds my flashing cursor disappears and I have to left click to make it reappear. Also the top window bar- usually blue- turns grey, on left clicking this turns back to blue. I also notice that in the process window in task manager an instance of Internet Exp starts- or ends- at exactly the same time as the cursor disappears or appears. The cursor toggles on and off when this happens. I have updated the mouse driver --HID compliant logitech and the video card driver,Number 9 visual technology rev 4. I have also removed any progs I thought maybe activating IE and run various adware & spyware detctors all to no avail. This is v annoying, just typing this Ive had to left click about 30 times !! Any one got any suggestions??? AMD Athlon processor 523 gig ram win2000 SP4

Further to this..I have cured this problem. It was a Trojan of some description. One of the symptoms was if I looked at the file iexplore.exe in Program Files\Internet explorer and renamed this file, after a few seconds a duplicate would appear, no matter how many times I did this another duplicate would appear.Using a-squared (Free) it detected an Heuristic LOP--what ever that is!-- Winnt\system32\RpcScvb.exe. Deleted that in Safe mode and it seems to have cured the problem. Incidentally Hijack this did detect it but would not delete it-- maybe if Id tried deleteing it Safe Mode it would have worked.
