I recently installed win 2000 advanced server
built on NT technology operating system. it is excellent but unable to configure my sm56 speakerphone modem. i dont know which drivers to install either of NT or win2000. and didnt the get the correct drivers.HELP!!!

I need to install a driver for Motorola sm56 speakerphone for windows xp professional. I think that the problem is to install COM 3 or COM 4. Windows xp don't let me install this ports.

Hi all,

The trouble with the Motorola SM56 seems to be that the chinese made modem is shipped in the middle east with the wrong software for Windows 2000. Although it says on the box that it works with Windows 2000,in reality it does not. This modem needs to work with Port-4, but the software offers only Ports 1 and 2. Who knows a correct download site???

i have recently purchased windows xp, i have motorola sm56 pci speaker phone modem, i have a driver for my modem for windows 95, 98 only. i downloaded windows 2000 driver from the net but it didn't work at all. windows xp does not recognise my modem at all. i can't afford to purchase another modem which is compatible for windows xp. currently i have windows 98. i tried to update my modem driver with downloaded modem driver for windows 2000 but it didn't work at all. and even after upgrading my windows 98 to windows xp, the doenloaded driver for win2000 doesn't work at all. please help me if some one have a driver please send me ASAP.

SM56 driver for win2000. I download
them from the motorola website but
they did not work. Also I used com4
in win98, but in Win2000 I can only
see com1 and com2. What is wrong?

U should check this official downloadable drivers 4 ur motorola sm56 speakerphone modem. I know that some drivers dont work at all but, i founded many more everywhere that even cause ur modem to crash hardware, so be carefull of what u download 4 modem drivers!!

Hi,

I recently installed win2K pro on my computer. I downloaded Motorola SM56 PCI Speakerphone Modem driver from motorola site for Win2K. Although I could use hyperterminal to make a phone call, I couldn't get connected to the Internet. The error I got was cannot detect modem. If I can successfully use hyperterminal, how could it not detect the modem?

Please help!

I have the same problem as everyone here. I installed win xp en now my modem doesn't work anymore. I checked the site of Motorola and they say that they have stopped updating the drivers for the modem. So there are no drivers availible for win xp.

XP uses win 2000 drivers, but motorola sayz u MUST have a clean install of win xp ie. no upgrades from previous OS's

my motorola sm56 pci modem won't load under windows 2000. Message wants smsrl.sys file but can't get it to work.I read on the net to delete the oem file in winnt\inf but that folder doesn't exist.
