I am taking my laptop on a trip and want to set up the internal 3 Com mini pci modem/network card. I've installed the driver OK but when I go to Control Panel Phone and Modem Options it opens with a Location Information window. It asks what country/region but the pull down is blank thus I can't enter anything. When I fill out the area code and hit OK a Missing Information window appears that says I must select the country or region that I am calling from and won't let me go further. So basically I am stuck at this point. I have reloaded the driver for the modem but it doesn't change anything. How can I get around this or get that table to fill in?

Might want to check your regional and language options to make sure they are correct. Otherwise its bug in the vendors software. See if their web site has an update.
BTW not sure where you are traveling but a modem won't help unless you have dialup access and your ISP provides a toll free number(s). Same with networking. Most hotels/motels are wireless and you need a wireless card to get on the internet.
Are you ready for where Microsoft wants you to go today?

The country list is stored in the registry at:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Telephony\Country List
I could send you a registry file to repair your missing list if you send me your email address. it may not fix the problem, but it's all I can suggest.
