modem problem with win2k

I have an aopen FM-56-P 56K speaker phone PCI modem. I get it to work after a few tries, but each time I restart windows 2k, it doesn't work anymore. Can anyone help?

REpost with what happens when it doesn't work. Does Windows give any error messages? Device conflicts in Device Manager??????

No, the modem is still recognized, but when I try to connect to the Internet, it states taht it can't establish any connection. When I go to the modem properties, I see the modem, but when I try ''diagnostic'', it cannot access it at all.

I have the same / similar problem. I am using a laptop with win2k. A xircom modem card. The modem works but everytime i disconnect i have to stop the modem, remove it from the slot and the re-insert it, so that i will reset. Then it works fine. Any assistance to this problem would be greatly appreciated.. please email me jamvan@acay.com.au any time..
