I am currently using Windows 2000 Server. I recently bought a computer that already had a modem in it. I found the driver which is the most suitable driver according to what my system tells me. However, when I look under modems after installation next to my modems name (HSP56) I get a response of Not Functional. What are the possible problems.

Trudy Windows of any version doesn't always correctly identify the modem. The best thing to do with an unknown modem is to open the case and pull the modem. Somewhere on the modem board or chipset you should find the manufacturer and model #. In case of a generic (really cheap) modem, you'll at least be able to find some numbers on the main chip of the modem. Then go to a site like windrivers.com or the manufacturers site to hunt down the latest win2k drivers. DriverGuide.com is good for hard to find drivers.
