Missing or Corrupt File

I got the follwoing message: "Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINNT\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM" I got this after replacing a bad NIC. I ended reinstalling the OS. Everything was OK the first few times I rebooted, but now I am getting the exact same message. I did a complete reinstall (wiped drive and started fresh). Any ideas why this is happening or how to fix it?
I am sorry, but I gave you the wrong error message. This is the message that I am getting: "The registry cannot load the hive (file): \systemRoot\System32\Config\SOFTWARE or its log or alternative." Help Please. Thanks.

I did that but this continually happens. I will do that and it will not let me reinstall any of my programs so I must reinstall Windows. The first time I shut down after reinstalling Windows it does it again. I have tried removing the NIC that I put in when this started happening, but still does the same thing.
