Comment:

I formatted my HD and put the emergency recovery disk in the drive for Win 2000 Pro and when I booted up, it returned a DOS msg."missing NTLDR file, press ctrl+alt+del and restart" but when I do that I just get the same msg. Help!

Can I load Win 2000 Server over Win 2000 Pro and make 2000 Pro go away?

Sounds like the default boot sequence is trying the hard drive as the first boot device.
You need to go into your BIOS and change your boot sequence so the a: drive is the first boot device.

I believe the ERD is not bootable.

A floppy formatted with w2k will give that msg.
