Hello all,

Bit of Advise please?

I'm thinking of trying to make an external Laptop, 60 gig 5400 HDD within an external USB2/Firewire ext drive box bootable then load a cut down Windows 2K PRO onto it & load lots of portable software for diagnostics and repair tools etc.
I know that Barts PE is capable of running from a flash stick but was wondering about the pitfalls of the above suggestion from a USB EXT HDD?

I was thinking of of shaving 2K down with Nlite slipstreaming SP4 & Hot fixes etc. Not sure about using a fat32 or NTFS file system yet & the Hard drive would need to be set "primary active" for booting. I realise that my Mobo/bios will need to have USB Booting capability e.g. USB-HDD & I will need to possibly disable all other boot devices for the process to work etc.

Has anyone ever attempted this or come across links that outline how to do it?

Regards

Dave
